Neferti puzzled for a moment, then tapped "The Great Breach" with a claw.
The Great Breach
On 5-5-769, unknown factors led to a breach in the city's bottom that went from the ocean into a storage room adjacent to Atuin's Source Crystal. Isaac, who had only recently been promoted to the rank of Magic Knight, was alone in the area as part of his patrols. As monsters emerged from the ocean, he placed himself in the doorway between the hole and the Source Crystal. Never moving from his position, unable to switch places due to the room's layout, he fought an endless wave of monsters without rest for three days and nights, until alchemists and craftsmen could finish the spells to repair the breach.
After he recovered from his battle, Isaac was immediately nominated for nearly every exaltation and award that can be given, including Sword Saint, Sage, as well as a promotion to Knight Commander, which would have made him the youngest in history. However, he turned down everything in favor of continuing his current position, saying he merely did his own duty to the best of his abilities.
The cause of the breach appearing so close to the Source Crystal are still unknown, but is believed to be the work of a cult for the Ocean God.
> Return
Neferti puzzled over this. It is true she can't imagine her grampa taking any rewards for doing his duty as a knight, but wouldn't he mention it if he is this famous? If he had saved everything once, that would be the sort of thing she would know...
There is nothing to do but ask him. She returns home, and finds her grampa tending to his fish pond.
Grampa, she asked immediately, you were a knight, right?
He smiles. A very long time ago, now, he tells her.
Did you save the city? She asks plainly.
Caught off-guard, he chuckles. It was nothing so noble, he tells her. It was simply that he was the only one there who could do something, and so he did. He was glad he could help everyone, but there was no need to kick up such a fuss about it.
Neferti is awestruck at her grandfather's words, and the realization that that truly was him. With a cry of calling him a hero, she hugs him, and he places a hand on her head and smiles.
Effects: Basically, now she has a better idea of what kind of person raised her. Grampadere is, as always, through the roof. She's also starting to get a better feel for herself, in a strange way, because... She can feel how much she admires him. And how much she wants to be like him! He faced literally the end of the city and just laughed it off as no big deal, and he had the strength to back that up.
Also, she has no idea what a Source Crystal is, but knows from how she felt reading it that it is very impmortant, and it getting fucked would be apocalyptically bad. Also, even if it only gets a side-mention... The ocean has a god? And that god has a cult? And that cult tried to do this shit? What the shitting dickballs.
