Memory 13
Memory: Significant Negative - Grandfather's death
Regained: Day 59, Woods (Scary stories)
Form: Slightly burned marshmallow. Eat to regain. (1/1 use remains)
Contents: In stories, a death always had meaning and significance. Neferti searched for it here, but life was not so simple. He was simply old, and magic could do much, but it was not meant to keep someone alive forever.
Neferti sat beside his bed and held his hands in hers as gently as she could, as they talked for a long time about nothing. He was proud of her, he said. He had seen her grow up so much, and he could see she would go on much further. He smiled gently, reminiscing aloud about all the time they had spent together. Neferti told him about all the things she had learned from him, and smiled, trying hard not to cry in front of him.
The time comes for the hospital to close visiting hours, and Neferti walks home in the dark. The next day, when she arrives, he is already gone. One of the nurses comes out, holding his sword reverently, and tells her that his last words were to pass it down to her.
He is given a hero's funeral days later, as his body is burned until nothing remains. She does not stop gripping the sword the entire time.
